It Is The Journey Poster
This poster was inspired by an incredible photoplate from Hatch Show Print's vast archive of plates that were used in the 1940s through the ‘60s to advertise traveling circuses, carnivals, and seasonal fairs.
After World War II, when wartime research, development, and manufacture were reinvested domestically, improvements were made across many industries. In the printing industry, this new technology afforded cost-effective photoplates that did not degrade quickly and allowed Hatch Show Print to update the look of its show posters efficiently with photography, in lieu of the hand-carved printing blocks that dominated nearly the first half of the twentieth century boom in live entertainment and leisure time activities.
