Eat Like You Mean It! Poster
The perfect piece of kitchen decor for any festive occasion, this print is also a celebration of the antique wood type that serves us this reminder to Eat! Like You Mean It!
The print was designed and printed in November, one of the most food-focused months of the year in our neck of the woods. The message applies year round though, particularly for the designers in the shop, for whom food is fuel to make posters, as well as a way in which we slow down, and take time to celebrate milestones over take-out from our favorite Nashville restaurants.
The print highlights the magical wall o'wood, a sixty foot wall of shelves where the shop's large wood type and many of the hand-carved printing blocks are stored, to clearly express the food-friendly message. The word "EAT" is set using 100 pica, or nearly 17 inches, of wood type, likely carved in the shop before 1900. It is punctuated with an exclamation mark from a display typeface that would be used to really grab your attention!
