Judith Poirier No. 3 29" x 20" Print

Judith Poirier (MA Royal College of Art, London) lives and works in Montreal. She is a professor at the School of design, Université du Québec à Montréal, as well as an experimental filmmaker, book designer, and letterpress practitioner. Her work centers on the use of typography and abstraction, and through this exploration she has developed an animation technique that employs an aleatoric approach to letterpress printing and sound production. Poirier's films have been screened and recognized at numerous international festivals. 

Her film Setting West features letters and images from Hatch Show Print's archive and received an Honorable Mention at the Nashville Film Festival.
